On June 28, 2010 at approximately 2130 hours, the Winsted Fire Department was detailed to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8. On arrival, units found one victim trapped within the vehicle. Extrication with the use of hydraulic tools was conducted.

After a short time the occupant was freed from the vehicle and transported o Charlotte Hungerford Hospital by Winsted EMS and Campion paramedics. Pleasant Valley FD was also requested and responded mutual aid with their Rescue to provide a back-up tool and lighting.
